We get these questions frequently. What is the best time of year to fish in Branson MO? Can you fish year-round in Missouri? Do fish bite in the winter in Missouri? April and May are usually some of the best months to go fishing in Branson. Throughout the year, a perpetual flow of running water keeps the fish in a natural winter habitat. As the temperatures cool, the fish begin to gather near the springs, which makes them prime destinations for anglers.

We fish year-round, with each season offering its own unique challenges and opportunities. From the spring spawn to summer feeding frenzies, fall foliage fishing, and winter trout season, there's never a bad time to fish with us. We use a variety of fishing techniques to ensure our clients have the best chance of catching the biggest fish. Whether it's light tackle or spinning, we have the knowledge and equipment to make your trip a success. So what are you waiting for? Check our fishing trips!

Summer Patterns & Peak Action Across Table Rock Lake and Lake Taneycomo fishing report coverpicture

July 28, 2026

Branson North Park - Taney, MO Fishing Report on 28th Jul, 2026

Water conditions across the Ozarks are looking exceptional this week. With steady summer weather patterns holding firm, fish are settling into predictable routines across both warm-water and tailwater fisheries. Whether you are aiming for topwater largemouth early in the morning or drifted rainbow trout in cool currents, here is where to target your efforts right now. Table Rock Lake: Bass & Crappie Breakdowns Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass: The early morning topwater bite remains solid around gravel points and deep brush piles in 15 to 25 feet of water. As the sun comes up, transition to drop-shot rigs with small finesse worms or deep-diving crankbaits along main-lake ledges. Crappie: Look for crappie suspended around timber or underneath large boat docks in 18 to 22 feet. Vertical jigging with small live minnows or light-colored soft plastics is producing consistent limits. Lake Taneycomo: Rainbow & Brown Trout Tailwater conditions remain favorable with light to moderate dam generation during peak afternoon hours. Upper Lake (Near Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery): Fly anglers are seeing strong success drifting olive or black marabou jigs, pink scuds, and micro-midge patterns on light tippet. Lower Lake: Drifting live nightcrawlers or powerbait under a light split-shot setup in current seams is keeping the rod bent for rainbow trout all morning long. Pro Tip for the Week: Pay close attention to water flow schedules if you're fishing Taneycomo. When generation begins, fish immediately shift to current breaks—position your drift right along those drop-off edges for the most active bites.
